The Second Annual Gem City Shootout will take place at the Bayfront Convention Center. This growing pool tournament will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, continue at 1 p.m. on Friday, and resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Approximately 250 participants will compete over the four days traveling from across Ohio and Pennsylvania. Designed for amateur pool players, the tournament will feature scotch doubles, 9 ball and 8 ball singles and a four-man and women team event.
“The Gem City Shootout provides amateur pool players with a great opportunity to compete and connect with others who share a passion for the sport,” said Melena Thompson, organizer of the Gem City Shootout. “We are excited to bring the tournament to the Bayfront Convention Center and provide a great experience for players from across the region.”
Also taking place this weekend is the Third Annual Pumpkin Smash Softball Tournament, hosted by the Union City Little League. All games will be played at the American Legion Little League Fields in Union City, beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday and continuing until 5 p.m. Play will resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday running until 3:30 p.m.
The tournament will bring 25 teams in the 10u,12u and 4u divisions, along with up to 350 participants to Erie County, traveling from New York, Ohio and across Pennsylvania.
The Pumpkin Smash Tournament is the fourth softball tournament hosted by the Union City Little League this year.
The Mercyhurst Women’s Bowling Invitational will also take place this Saturday and Sunday at Rolling Meadows Lanes. This invitational marks the opening event of the Lakers’ 2026-27 season and the program’s only home competition of the season.
