The Erie Cancer Wellness Center Duathlon will be held this Sunday, at Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview. The run-bike-run event begins at 9 a.m. and is expected to conclude around noon. Registration is sold out for the fourth consecutive year, with 170 participants registered. Both individuals and relay teams are welcome, allowing friends, families and training partners to compete together.
The duathlon is designed to be accessible for a wide range of fitness levels while still offering a meaningful challenge for experienced athletes. “The Erie Cancer Wellness Center Duathlon has become a meaningful tradition that brings our community together in support of individuals and families affected by cancer,” said Kregg Heenan, event volunteer of the Erie Cancer Wellness Center Duathlon. “We are grateful for every athlete, volunteer and sponsor that help make the event possible, and we look forward to hosting the event for another year while supporting the important work of the Erie Cancer Wellness Center.”
The Erie Bay Cup, hosted by TCS Hockey, will take place this Friday through Sunday at the Erie Sports Park, Erie Insurance Arena and Flo Fabrizio Ice Center. Approximately 720 hockey players are expected to participate, with 48 teams traveling from Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Maryland and Michigan. This year’s tournament marks the largest number of participating teams in the Erie Bay Cup since the tournament began in 2019.
The tournament will feature boys’ divisions from 9U through 16U across A, AA and B levels, with each team guaranteed a minimum of four games.
