Local sports venues will get a workout this weekend as the Erie Sports Commission welcomes three events with pickleball, disc golf and a ninja competition on the docket.
Sinai Sports will host the World Ninja League Season 10 Regional Qualifier on Saturday and Sunday. Competitors aged six to over 40 will compete in six age-based divisions, each capped at 40 participants. The event starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the six to eight age group and resumes at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday with the teen division. The elite division will begin on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The World Ninja League (WNL) is a premier series of ninja competitions for athletes aged six and older, aimed at promoting the sport of Ninja Obstacle Course racing globally.
Pickleball and disc golf wrap up weekend activities on Sunday.
The Harvest Heat “ANY Time” Shootout takes over Around the Post this Sunday. The event will feature men’s and women’s mixed pickleball teams participating in a round robin format, followed by semifinal and final matches, all competing for medals in their respective divisions.
The 4.5 division will start at 12 p.m., while the 4.0 division will start at 2:30 p.m. and the 3.5 division will start competing at 5 p.m.
Matches will feature a format where games to 15 will switch sides at eight points, and games to 11 will switch sides at six points. Each team is allowed one timeout per game.
Also on Sunday, the Erie Disc Golf Club will host its Fall Flight Two tournament at Pleasant Ridge Park. This C-tier singles tournament will consist of two rounds of 18 holes, with check-in beginning at 7:30 a.m.
