Veterans Day Showcase and World Ninja League Come to Erie This Weekend

The annual Veterans Day Showcase, hosted by Lake Effect Hockey, will take place this weekend at the Erie Insurance Arena, Flo Fabrizio Ice Center, LECOM Sports Park and Mercyhurst University Ice Center. The tournament will run Friday through Sunday, starting at noon on Friday and ending at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be 40 hockey teams competing and over 650 participants traveling from New York, Ohio Indiana and Pennsylvania. There is a four-game minimum for each team.

“Lake Effect Hockey is excited to be back in Erie for another Veterans Day Showcase,” said Jason Fowler, owner of Lake Effect Hockey. “This event allows young athletes to compete at a high level and connect with teams from across the region. It will be a weekend full of community and competition.”

Also taking place this weekend is the World Ninja League Tier 1 Regional Qualifier at Sinai Sports. The World Ninja League (WNL) hosts a series of ninja competitions for athletes 6 & up. 

Competition will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

About 100 participants will be competing, traveling from Canada, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania. The top three athletes from each age group will move on to the Midwest Regional Championships being held in New York.  

The World Ninja League Tier 2 Regional Qualifier will be held Dec. 21 at Sinai Sports
