Two sporting events will bring hundreds of athletes and spectators to Erie this weekend as the Erie Sports Commission welcomes back the Mid Atlantic Broomball Tournament and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Women’s Bowling Round Robin Tournament.
The Mid-Atlantic Broomball Tournament, organized by the Pittsburgh Broomball Club, will be held at LECOM Sports Park. The event will feature men’s and women’s broomball teams competing in full-ice tournament play.
Teams will be traveling from multiple states, including Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. Nearly a dozen of the region’s top broomball teams will compete throughout the weekend. Games will be played in 15-minute halves using the latest American Broomball Alliance rulebook. Games will run from 8 a.m. through 10:20 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. through 11:10 a.m. on Sunday.
“We’re excited to bring the Mid-Atlantic Broomball Tournament back to Erie,” said Tyler McGuigan, Mid-Atlantic Broomball tournament director. “This event has grown into one of the highlights of our season, and Erie’s facilities and community support make it a great place for athletes to come together for a great weekend of competition.”
Another annual event happening this Saturday and Sunday is the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women’s Bowling Round Robin Tournament, which will take place at Eastland Bowl.
The two-day event will feature women’s bowling teams from colleges within the AMCC conference competing in round-robin match play. The teams include Penn State Behrend, Hilbert College, La Roche University, Pitt-Bradford, Saint Vincent College and William Smith College. The tournament serves as one of the conference’s regular-season events, allowing teams to earn points toward postseason qualification.
