Erie Sports Commission named Sports Commission of the Year Finalist

he Erie Sports Commission was recognized today as a finalist for the 2023 National Sports Commission of the Year, population under 500,000 by Sports ETA, the trade association for the sport tourism industry in the U.S. The announcement was made at the Sports ETA Symposium being held in Portland, Ore.

"It’s always exciting to be recognized for your efforts by your peers,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Being selected as a finalist is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team and I am incredibly proud of the positive impact that we are making on Erie County.”

In 2023, the Erie Sports Commission supported more events than in any other year since its inception in 2013. The organization hosted and supported 84 events in Erie County last year that generated an estimated economic impact of $18 million.
