2024 PA State USBC Open Championships

The Erie Sports Commission is thrilled to announce that the PA State United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Open Championships has been awarded the Champions of Economic Impact by Sports Destination Management, a leading national sports tourism publication. This recognition highlights the significant economic contributions made by the bowling tournament, which ran for 10 weeks from April 6 through June 9 at Eastway Lanes and Eastland Bowl.

This year, participation increased by 16% compared to the last event held in Erie in 2019. The tournament attracted over 5,000 athletes, generating an estimated economic impact of more than $2 million and over 3,800 hotel room nights.

“We are incredibly proud to see the PA State USBC Open Championships recognized as a Champion of Economic Impact,” said Brett Rearick, president of Northwestern PA USBC. “This award underscores the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. This tournament truly exemplifies how sports can bring people together and drive growth. We look forward to building on this success in the future.”

The Erie Sports Commission is proud to have nominated the PA State USBC US Open Championships for this award and celebrated this achievement with all participants, volunteers and organizers who made it possible.
