Erie has four events taking place this weekend beginning with the Millcreek Summer Sizzler baseball tournament followed by the start of the 2024 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, the GAA Midwest Finals and the Presque Isle Triathlon.
The 2024 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, hosted by International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL), will take place at Erie Insurance Arena Saturday, August 3 through Thursday, August 8. This event features some of the top junior lacrosse players from Australia, Canada, Poland, Scotland and the U.S. competing for a gold medal.
The six-day tournament features two games per day at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. culminating in the medal games on August 8. Day passes for the preliminary round are $18 while medal round tickets on Aug. 8 are $20.

The Midwest Gaelic Athletic Association (Midwest GAA) Finals will take place Saturday and Sunday at Erie Sports Center. Teams from New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan will compete in Camogie, Gaelic Football, Ladies Gaelic Football and Hurling. These teams come to Erie to battle for a Midwest Championship Cup and, in some cases, advancing to the United Stated Gaelic Athletic Association Finals in San Francisco August 16-18.

The 22nd Annual Presque Isle Triathlon, hosted by Presque Isle Partnership, takes place on Saturday. All proceeds from the Presque Isle Triathlon will benefit Presque Isle State Park.
“The Presque Isle Partnership looks forward to welcoming athletes to the 22nd Annual Presque Isle Triathlon,” said Race Director, Lauren Eckendorf. “The event showcases our beautiful peninsula by taking athletes on a swim, bike, run tour of the park. The Presque Isle Triathlon features a flat, fast race that attracts seasoned triathletes and first-times. The Millcreek Legion Post #773 Baseball Club hosts the 22nd Edition of the Millcreek Summer Sizzler 11U/12U baseball tournament. More than 32 teams from Eastern Ohio, Western New York and Pennsylvania take the field from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
