Erie, Pa. - Sports Destination Management has announced the 2020-21 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism Presented by Traveling Teams. This year’s winners are responsible for contributing a more-than-welcome boost of over $400 million to the national economy over the past year.
Among the winners was the Lax Bash Gem City tournament, hosted at ERIEBANK Sports Park in July 2020 and July 2021.
The tournament featured more than 60 teams participate from several states, and resulted in an estimated economic impact of nearly $1.2 million. It was the first major sporting event hosted in Erie County, Pa. since the onset of the pandemic when it debuted here in July 2020.
